Well, all good things must come to an end, they say. And it is so. The GLI was traded in on April 3rd, 2011, exactly a month ago today.
To the left, the last picture I ever took of it right after we parted ways.
I neglected this site for a while but a few changes continued to take place after the Work wheels were bolted on. I finally completed the Votex kit and had it color matched Deep Black Pearl. For completion sake I will create it’s own entry to document this even though I don’t have very good photos to show for it. I also won first place at WaterWerks 2009, which I neglected to post here as well. Maybe I will at some point, if only to be able to say I documented everything. My car was also featured on the WaterWerks 2010 Calendar for the month of May.
I have many fond memories with this car that I will always carry with me. I learned a lot about the car, VW/Audi and myself with it and enjoyed immensely the journey I had with it. I made a lot of great friends throughout my ownership of this car – something for which I will forever be grateful.
A new project has already made its way into my garage in the form of a 2011 Audi S4. My journey with it will certainly be documented in its own space.
It’s funny how in a very odd way, the new car has many of the same quirks, smells and sounds. In a way, it’s almost as if the GLI’s essence transferred over. We become so attached to these things that we assign personalities and traits to them. I’d like to think that at least in spirit, the essence remained the same.
So, like a möbius strip, which never ends, the project also doesn’t end; it just transforms.
For those interested, the progress with the new toy is being tracked and documented in the same fashion, at it’s own space and can be found here.
